When I got up this morning I was pleased that at least I could put some weight on my (newly) damaged knee. We had breakfast in our room before heading out to another talk by the same people who did yesterday’s chat on maps. Today’s presentation was on Bali and Indonesia – culture and sights. It was informative and entertaining.
As today is a day at sea I thought I’d spend time talking about The Legend of the Seas. As cruise virgins Shane & I had no idea what to expect but I can honestly say now that we are impressed.
Legend is about the oldest of the Royal Caribbean Fleet. I believe she was built around 1995 making her pretty close to paying off. In fact we have been supplied with a list of future RC cruises and Legend has no schedule beyond 2017 that we can find (others have trips planned till 2019). It is also one of their smaller ships at around 900 feet in length and carrying 2000 passengers.
Despite the number of passengers we are continually being impressed by the attention to detail and the concern for passengers comfort and wellbeing. Our Stateroom Attendant, Habibi, has been the epitome of professionalism but he has also gone that extra 1% for us. On our first day I mentioned to Habibi that we had a bottle of bubbly to celebrate our 1st night at sea. When we returned to our cabin he had not only organised a bucket of ice but had put the bottle in it to chill and supplied to champagne flutes. Habibi also has us amused with his folded towel animals he leaves on our bed of an evening.
He has kept our cabin spotless and when he saw me in a wheelchair after I blew up my knee I thought he would cry. He has genuine concern for us.
Habibi is not the only crew member to impress us. Our two table waiters, Rowell and Royston, have similarly been great ensuring that meal times are fun and satisfying.
Rowell has a hat full of tricks and amusing anecdotes. Over the last few nights he has been showing/teaching us how to fold napkins into various shapes. Some have been fascinating.
