We berthed at Kai Tak International Cruise Terminal around 0630. Shane & I had the alarm on to see the harbour entry and Shane got this beautiful daybreak shot (below) as we pulled the curtains open.

By the time we’d collected our huge luggage cache, passed Customs and Immigration and got 3 taxi’s to get to the Eaton Hotel on Nathan Road it was well after 1000. This was pretty good considering the hassle with 2000 passengers all jockeying for taxi’s. Luckily the local luggage trolley ‘boy’ (older than us) was aggressive enough to take us to the front of the line much to the chagrin of Ian (and the other passengers) who was crankily waiting in the mile long queue on our behalf. Take a look at our luggage (pic below) and you’ll see why we needed 3 cabs!

Anyway, once at the hotel again we had a win. While new arrivals to the hotel (including ‘Legend’ cruisers) had to wait till 1400 to check in we had actually booked the hotel from the previous day so we could go straight to our room to relax.
After a bit of a rest we all met downstairs and agreed we had top rooms. Executive suites to be precise. As well as being 1st class rooms the Hotel Eaton provides a mobile phone with wi-fi and free local and international calls to each room. Being mobile phones we can take these with us everywhere and by adding each others ‘new’ mobile phone numbers to our contact list we had direct contact between each other. A great thing when deciding where/when to meet or if we get separated.
We had lunch at Macca’s (yeah, I know, not healthy but we were hungry and it is across the road) and then had a rest for most of the arvo. We had tea at a great little restaurant across the laneway and found the Temple St Markets just 2 streets away. Sure enough we hit them after tea before flaking out in bed. We’ll need the rest for tomorrow.
