The night time skyline of Hong KongThe night time skyline of Hong Kong is always spectacular

Slow late start to today.  We all slept like logs.  4 of us tried Starbucks for breakfast only to find they had bugger all so over to the Golden Arches again. (For Ray & John) Oh yeah, they have loyalty cards here for coffee too.  The A-Team leaves it’s mark! Ha Ha. The other two ended up at a nearby restaurant.  (No names as to who went where.)  We met up in the courtyard of the hotel to plan our day and off we went for a day on HK island.  Fortunately Jordan MRT Station is very close so we walked there, got a train to Central HK then the number 6X bus to Stanley.  I was a bit put out because I couldn’t negotiate the bus steps to the top deck. None the less the scenery was still spectacular as always here.  How they build such huge high rise buildings on these slopes will always amaze me.

We walked again through the world famous markets then down to the beach front where we had a fantastic Chinese lunch of Dim Sum, a beef dish and steak along with 3 bowls of ‘flied lice’.  I chose to wash mine down with a pint of Stella Artois.  The others had soft drink.  It was about this time that Ian decided he wasn’t walking further so he got into his new ferrari to drive back.  It was actually quite funny. Colin cheekily asked the owner if Ian could ‘play’ with his car. This lovely young chap not only said yes but opened up so Ian could sit in the driver’s seat.  Dream on Ian besides that my red one is faster than yours. A few photos, more walking then the bus back to Central.  By the time we hit the hotel we were all pretty well stuffed.

The Cahill’s and the Cross’ had a light tea at Starbucks (well we did. Ian threw his on to the floor!) then while Ian & Julie went back to the Temple St Markets Shane & I jumped into a cab to go to the waterfront to see the light show.  What a disappointment. A new construction going up on the waterfront has forced the closure of the Avenue of Stars so we missed most of the show blocked out by this new building.  Next time we’ll either book a meal on a harbour cruise or head up to the far end of the waterfront to catch the show.  One not so quick cab ride back where the cabbie took the long way home and we were ready for bed.
