Fort CornwallisFort Cornwallis

Well after a few days of resting my weary knees we got out a bit today.  Not a lot, just a bit.

Shane & I visited the local Tourist Information Centre where we gleaned heaps of info on what’s happening in Penang over the rest of this year.  We also found out about the local bus system and the free CAT bus (a CBD shuttle bus).  From there we walked up the road to Fort Cornwallis for a peak at it.  The fort isn’t big but it is a place of historical significance.

After that we finished the loop around the fort and grabbed the free CAT to Komtar.  Komtar is the city’s transport hub & it happens to be situated less than 800 mtrs from our condo at Times Square.  Between these two locations is GAMA, a large supermarket used by the locals (and us too now).  We picked up a few groceries, wandered home then went back down to the pool on the 5th floor where we had a cooling dip and a tinny of Tiger beer.

We hadn’t been back in the unit long before we realised the time and decided to duck back down stairs again for tea.  Not feeling very hungry we hit the Golden Arches at the base of our tower block. It’s now about 8:30pm and here I sit mulling over what to write.

What I might do is post some pictures of the Fort for you (at the bottom of this page) and I think I’ll finish at that.  The cat stranglers are yodelling outside again on their loudspeakers so that’ll do me.

Goodnight all.

Garry.
