I’ve been teasing about the best of Singapore in the last 3 posts. Well here it is. The Gallery below is just a few of the photos we took on this day. On our last full day in Singapore we flattened 3 phone batteries, 2 camera batteries and we filled an entire SD Card it was just that good. Because of the number of great photos I have struggled to put them in exact order but I reckon this loose order will give you an idea of our day.
The day started with our MRT trip to the Gardens by the Bay (3 posts ago). We then hit the Flower Dome (2nd last post) followed by the Cloud Forest (last post). This is the remainder of the day and what a day it was. After the Cloud Forest we headed through the Mega Tree Forest. We gawked with open mouths around a beautiful landscape until late afternoon. About then we went up to the OBCD Skywalk which is suspended 30 or so metres above the ground. Our plan was to stay up there for the upcoming ”light show” however the ‘rules’ decided otherwise. As it started to get dark we were ushered off the skywalk. Apparently visits to the walkway are limited to 15 minutes and after an hour the security guards sent us packing along with a large number of others. Not to be put off we found a nice spot on the ground which turned out to be better than the skywalk because we could wander and get different angles. This gallery starts with a video of the light show.
After the light show we crossed the pedestrian bridge to the Marina Bay Sands Shops and our agreed treat for dinner. We arrived at the DC Comics Super Heroes Restaurant and Souvenir shop. Have a good look at how to set up a themed cafe for maximum effect. I’ve included pics of our mains. My Batman Burger and Shane’s Rocky Road meal. The placemats are from a comic and everything is named after something from DC Comics. It is expensive here but it’s a ‘must do’ at least once and it isn’t just for the little kids. Once you’ve had your meal head next door to the souvenir shop and grab some merchandise.
After tea we walked out to the Promenade to watch the Marina Bay Sands Light show in the Basin. Here pictures were projected onto a fine screen made from a high pressure water spray curtain. With lasers, fog, music and picture it was a great way to end a massive, intensive day. Totally stuffed we caught the MRT back to our hotel where we just collapsed into bed.
That’s it (finally) for our 4 day Singapore visit. Singapore should be a definite stopover for everyone. Fantastic place.
Next posts will cover our final weeks in Bali before landing back home in Townsville. So keep following the blog as there’s more to come.
Cheers
