Edit – December 2021 – This below was our original advert in October 2019 before we left for a short trip home before covid-19 hit. We were then stuck back in Australia until now. In the intervening 2 years the fifth wheel and RAM have been in a secure storage facility (with the van under cover). We have spent over $4000 recommissioning and servicing the rig to get it back up to standard. All fluids and filters have been changed, rubber belts replaced, a new radiator installed and more. so while you read this keep in mind the dates may be old but we are in Las Vegas and we are selling.

Our original blog post begins here:

Well, our year in the USA is almost over, now comes the sale of our rig.  The best way to see what YOU can do in it is to read some our our blog from January 2019 onwards (click on the archive list below).  Here is our story;

We are an Aussie couple who purchased this unit new in January 2019 and now must sell before we return home.

So here’s your chance to profit from our departure.  Selling a COMPLETE package of Keystone Hideout 262RES Fifth Wheel plus RAM tow vehicle plus everything you need to jump in and go (cutlery, crockery, manchester, pots and pans, utility hoses and fittings, reverse view camera and more). Yes, it has had a few problems but they’ve mostly been sorted.  We’ve had this unit long enough to iron out most bugs that plague new units.  (see https://www.curbed.com/2019/9/18/20870828/rv-camper-repairs-poor-quality for independent advice on new units)

Besides the standard Keystone fittings this model has the ‘Cold Mountain Package’.  We’ve replaced the TV with a ‘smart tv’ and added a second a/c.  There’s also a full time reverse view camera.  It has a table with 4 chairs not a booth dinette and a lounge that folds out as a bed.  We’ll throw in extra tap fittings, chill boxes, folding chairs & table, awning shade and everything we can’t take back to Australia.  There may even be a spare beer in the fridge.

The RAM is a 2014, V8, 5.7ltr Hemi 1500 Crew Cab. (The Hideout is designed for the half ton pickups.)  It will tow at over 70 mph but we preferred 60 so it’s not been thrashed.  24MPG alone/11MPG towing (log available).  Always serviced, it has had the factory shock absorbers replaced with stronger after-market shocks, 2 new tires just replaced and new rear brakes fitted in October by a dealer. It has towing mirrors and the hitch (of course).  When not towing the tonneau cover hides the pickup well, toolbox (tools included in sale) and hitch. (Edit – don’t forget the $4k overhaul in Dec 2021)

There is too much to mention here but just think of the costs to buy all these extras (many of which I haven’t even listed) not to mention the time and costs to tweak out the problems that new vans have.

Now the big question.  How much do we want for this ENTIRE package?  The MSRP for this model is around $44,000 USD new but you can get used/demo ones for about $30,000.  Then there’s the upgraded vehicle (stronger shockies, tools, hitch etc) and the thousands of dollars it has cost us for living items (ie bedding, food utensils, outdoor folding table & chairs, BBQ, reversing camera, extra a/c, full hookup kit and spares etc).  If you traded the RAM to go bigger you’ve got a $10,500 truck (Carfax values it at this – Dec 2021) to start dealing with.

All we’re asking is $35,000 USD for the 5th wheel, RAM and extras.

We will be in Las Vegas until we sell. I’m happy to show you the set up before that.  If we don’t sellwe’ll just return to the USA and travel some more so we’re not in a panic sale here.  I have posted some pictures in the gallery below. (several are ‘borrowed’ pics from the manufacturer) and here is a link to a specs description page.
