Flying Scoot to PenangScooting away to Penang in the first of our 2018 adventures.

Back on the road again.

Well here we are back in Penang again.  We really do love this place.  We have sold our home of 27 years and most of what was in it.  I thought it would be a more painful process than it actually was but in the end we have stored what is important to us, changed our address with everyone we can think of and convinced the kids we know what we’re doing.

We’re only here for a month before heading back to Townsville for the birth of our 2nd grandchild.  When things have settled down after his arrival we intend to hop on a plane and venture to north America to do a road trip for the remainder of 2018.

We’ve only been here a few days so not much to report but from here I will be stepping up the output to keep you up to date.  We left Australia via Sydney, Singapore and Penang.  A very long 20 hour trip.  This is why we normally go via a few days in Bali.  It breaks up the trip and makes it much more enjoyable.  At least the Scoot Airlines 787 Dreamliner was a decent plane to travel in from Sydney to Singa’s.

In Penang we are in an AirBnB condo near to Gurney (next door to Gleneagles Hospital).  The unit is spacious, handy to eateries and not too expensive.  Sadly the maintenance is lacking but nothing major.  A few cooking utensils and a good clean up would go down well but for a month we can enjoy this place easily.  Last night we discovered the most ‘penanganese’ (if there is such a word) ‘food gallery’ right across the road from us.  It has tables on the beach front and at around $3.50 AUD each for our meals I think we’ll become regulars there.

That’s it for now.  Over the next month I will post pics of this, our 6th trip to Penang, Langkawi (I forgot to mention that side trip), Chinese New Year and anything else we get up to (that is publishable).

So keep checking this blog for more.
