Yuma Proving GroundCannon at Yuma Proving Ground

Warning:  If you are not into aircraft or military weaponry then don’t take up your time checking out this blog.  In here there are over 300 photos (my biggest ever gallery by far) of planes, missiles, tanks, cannons and items of a similar theme.  I tried and tried to cull these but there are too many interesting aircraft so here they are, or at least those that we could photograph.

We took the bulk of these photos at the PIMA Air & Space museum where there are over 400 civil and military aircraft.  Many of these are in working order but are now obsolete.  Most have a story or some historical significance but with so many to see I cannot begin to catalogue these here.  If you’d like to know more than go to the website https://pimaair.org/  .

This museum covers over 80 acres and has aircraft inside 5 hangers as well as spread over the grounds where you can wander at your own leisure (you really need a 2 day pass) and take the 45 minute guided tour, tram ride.  Most of my military mates will get a kick out of this post.

The next photos were taken from the car as we drove by the famous Arizona “Boneyard” where thousands of aircraft are sitting in the dry desert sun awaiting to be recalled into service.  We couldn’t get into the base to see these up close but with 2 weeks notice this can be done by applying to the appropriate authorities.  Check out the video attached here. Shane took this as we drove down the road beside the base.

The final photos (which start with 2 huge cannons pointing upwards) is at the US Army’s Yuma Proving Ground where much of the USA’s arsenal is tested. Like the PIMA gallery has some labels and I have tried to keep them with the right pics but it is near impossible so my apologies for any errors

So that’s it for this blog.  Short on words, big on pictures.

Cheers and watch for the next post.

Garry & Shane
